Visiting Speaker from The Mammalian Genetics Units at Harwell

Thursday 20th October
Period 5
BR23

Dr Rebecca Dumbell is visiting to talk to the Year 13 BTEC class about her research into metabolism, in particular metabolic disease and type II diabetes, and anyone interested is welcome to attend.

Dr Dumbell is a research scientist that works at the Mammalian Genetics Unit at the MRC Harwell Institute, near Didcot. Dr Dumbell is interested in how the brain and the rest of the body communicate in order to regulate appetite, body weight and metabolic health and since moving to Harwell in April 2016, her work has focused more on the underlying genetics that can cause some people to be more likely to develop type 2 diabetes.

If you are interested in attending please let Mr Routledge know by email (kro@) or drop into BR23 to let him know.

Yours
Ms Elias
