Lecture on War and Peace 9th March from 5pm

Cyril Foster Lecture 2017: 'Fear and Loathing in International Relations - the Persistence of War'

Speaker: Sir Lawrence Freedman, Emeritus Professor of War Studies, King's College London
When: Thursday 9 March, 5 - 6pm
Where: South Schools, Examination Schools, 75-81 High Street, Oxford, OX1 4BH

Abstract: "Although the 2003 Iraq War was linked to the "War on Terror" the case for the war was presented, at least in the UK, within the terms of the established framework of international relations, with the UN at the centre. The aftermath of the war pushed the UK into an arena in which terrorist methods were regularly employed and it struggled to cope. The lecture will explore what this might mean for future British interventions".

Advance registration is not required; this event is free to attend. Please provide photographic ID.
