St Hugh's College have two opportunities for students to submit essays with the chance of winning a prize. Which is open to year 12 students and year 13 students who have not currently been in the Sixth Form for longer than 2 years,
Mary Renault Prize 2017
Two or more prizes up to the value of £300 to be won by submitting an essay on classical reception or influence.
The essays can be from any discipline and should be on a topic relating to the reception of classical antiquity - including Greek and Roman literature, history, political thought, philosophy, and material remains - in any period to the present.
Essays should be between 2,000 and 4,000 words.
Essays should be submitted with the Mary Renault Prize Cover sheet (available on request from the sixth form office) using the upload form found here
Julia Wood Prize 2017
A prize worth £500 for the best historical essay
The choice of historical subject is up to you
Essays should be between 2,000 and 4,000 words
They should be submitted as a Word document
You should use the Julia Wood Prize cover sheet (again - available on request from the sixth form office) and submitted here
