Bettany Hughes at Festival of Lost Cities

This is just a word of encouragement to come along to Bettany Hughes at 6pm at our Festival tomorrow (Monday) if you can. She is an excellent speaker and has made many TV documentaries on both ancient and modern history. She is doing a Q&A on "The Greatest Cities on Earth", and it's a rare opportunity to hear this very well-known and well-respected speaker without having to set foot outside of school.

It will be exceptionally useful for students of both classics and history, but everyone will gain something from hearing her speak.

Festival of Lost Cities - this Monday

All Sixth Form students are very warmly invited and encouraged to come to the Festival of Lost Cities on Monday from 3pm. Class Civ students are expected to attend for the first hour in lieu of their lesson last Wednesday.  The talks, activities and food are all going to be brilliant.  This is a great opportunity to hear top speakers without having to even leave Cheney.  The Festival will be for Cheney only up to 3.30 at which point large numbers of visitors from places as far afield as Kent and London are expected - but do stay for as long as you want. 

Please be aware that L1 and L2 will be set up on Monday morning - L1 from 9am (though do please work in there up to 12 noon, without moving the tables) and L2 from 11am.  Sorry for the disruption - everything will be back in place early on Tuesday morning.

Cheney School Sixth Form Entry into Year 13 Policy

The policy below outlines the requirements for Year 12 Cheney School students to enter in Year 13 for their final year of study. We also outline the options available to students, should they not attain three passes at the end of Year 12.

Straight entry into Year 13 requires three passes, from either external or internal exams.

2 Passes in Year 12

If students achieves two passes, they will be allowed to continue into Year 13 if they have an average attitude score of 3 or above.

If a student achieves two passes and has an average attitude score below 3, then they will not be allowed to continue into Year 13.

1 Pass in Year 12

If students achieves 1 pass, they will be allowed to retake Year 12 if they have an attitude skills score of 3 or above.

If a student achieves 1 pass and has an average attitude score below 3, then they will not be allowed to retake Year 12.

3 U grades in Year 12

Year 12 students will not be allowed to continue into Year 13. We will support them, with the help of Jason Davis, to find an alternative route.

Sicily payment

Sicily Meeting - compulsory Thursday lunch
