Brookes Summer Schools during WE week

If you don't have anything organised for the Work Experience week, these might be very well worth putting in a quick last minute application for:

There are still places available on four of our fully-funded Discover Brookes summer schools for Year 12 students:
  • Real Estate Management - 3rd to 5th July
  • Music - 3rd to 5th July
  • Sport and Exercise Science - 12th to 14th July
  • International Hospitality Management 17th to 19th July
The summer schools are a great chance for students to look into a degree that they would otherwise perhaps not have considered.

Please encourage your students to apply as soon as possible if you think this experience could be beneficial for them. Application forms are attached and can be downloaded. A paper poster is making your way to you.

Summer School key information:
  • There are no costs for participants, food, accommodation & transport is paid for.
  • Students will be staying in their own en-suite rooms in halls of residence.
  • They will receive a mix of academic and university preparation sessions
Some information about the subject pathways below:

Nearly everything we do involves property. The sector is booming and the demand for graduates with the right knowledge and skills set is high.
Real Estate Management is a multidisciplinary course and includes subject areas such as economics, law, and planning and construction.  It is suitable for pupils who are interested in business, economics and who could see themselves working for investment firms, as property managers or surveyors.

 Music:
At Oxford Brookes, you don’t need A-Levels in Music or a BTEC to apply for the course . Anyone who can demonstrate their competence and passion for music can apply.
Music is one of the most versatile university degrees: it includes performance, composition, music history and music theory. The elements of the course prepare students for work in the music sector but also provide skills for any career that involves creative problem solving and critical thinking.
For a happier, healthier society, there is an increasing need for professionals trained in interpreting the health consequences of our current lifestyles.Students also learn to cater for the more performance-focused requirements of athletes. Students will get a taster of some of the aspects of this multidisciplinary course, which includes subjects like nutrition, Biomechanics and Sports Psychology.

This course will equip students with the knowledge, skills and attributes to become an effective and ethical manager in international hospitality. They will learn about finance, human resources and events management and go on a one-year paid work placement. Students have excellent career prospects and work in management positions with international employers such as Mariott or Four Seasons.

Discover Brookes is aimed at students from groups underrepresented in Higher Education. Ideally applicants should fulfill one or more of the listed on our website[http://./]., but we would encourage everyone to apply
