Aduen Benjumea / Nicole Caranzo/ Zakia Khademi
Cheney Sixth Form art students have been teamed up to curate an art exhibition to accompany their first year fine art portfolio. Every piece of work in the exhibition relates to the artists chosen pathway and thus over the past few weeks Aduen, Nicole and Zakia have worked hard to their first ever art exhibition showcasing their work entitled ‘Humans’.
‘Humans’ is about society and social pressures it portrays the way each individual human contributes to a society, and how that society contributes to culture and so forth. Eventually, this comes down to something we wear, the action of doing things and this becomes something universal. Some of the works they will be displaying include body figures, portraits and photography. In addition, some of the works are purposefully adorned left for the audience to perceive it in their own ways. The whole theme emphasises the structure of human life and how we become one community. However, it also attempts to explore the pressures of society in a way that separates each being from a close group. The exhibition contrasts the ways of being in a community to the way individuals go through life alone.
The artists welcome and encourage any comments and questions you may have on their work as it would benefit their project and understanding of their project as a whole. Also the artists would love all visitors to take part in the little activity they have organised which will be pinned on a “where do you fit in within society?’ wall and become a part of the project as the artists believed that it allow you to question where you fit in with society.
