I have received the following message from Dr Becks Fisher - if you are interested in medicine, please e-mail me this week so that I can let her know numbers. I think this will be a very good opportunity - it is essential that you go if you are in Year Twelve planning to apply next year.
I
am contacting you on behalf of around 35 local doctors and medical students
interested in trying to level the playing field for access to medicine.
On Saturday the 7th May 2015 we're running a 'pre med' morning aimed at local
year 12 state school students interested in applying to medicine. We'll be
discussing key details of the admissions process itself (exams, personal
statements, differences between UK medical schools etc), but also trying to
engage students with the realities of what a career in medicine really looks
like/ethical conundrums/NHS politics (the things that come up repeatedly in
interviews). The morning will take place at Cherwell school. Start time TBC
(likely 9:30), and concluding at 12:30.
We are very keen to make this as accessible as possible to students, and there
won't be any cost to attend the morning. The doctors and medical students are
all volunteers.
