Very good Medicine Opportunity
I have received the following message from Dr Becks Fisher - if you are interested in medicine, please e-mail me this week so that I can let her know numbers. I think this will be a very good opportunity - it is essential that you go if you are in Year Twelve planning to apply next year.
I am contacting you on behalf of around 35 local doctors and medical students interested in trying to level the playing field for access to medicine. On Saturday the 7th May 2015 we're running a 'pre med' morning aimed at local year 12 state school students interested in applying to medicine. We'll be discussing key details of the admissions process itself (exams, personal statements, differences between UK medical schools etc), but also trying to engage students with the realities of what a career in medicine really looks like/ethical conundrums/NHS politics (the things that come up repeatedly in interviews). The morning will take place at Cherwell school. Start time TBC (likely 9:30), and concluding at 12:30. We are very keen to make this as accessible as possible to students, and there won't be any cost to attend the morning. The doctors and medical students are all volunteers.

Reminder: Lysistrata - performance on 23rd February
Classical Play at Cheney: Lysistrata
On
Tuesday 23rd February, the highly-acclaimed theatre company Actors of
Dionysus are bringing their modern adaptation of the Ancient Comedy
Lysistrata to Cheney School.
The play is described as follows by Actors of Dionysus:
“This
no holds barred comedy, Lysistrata, promises to be both hilarious and
provocative! Follow our heroine, Lysistrata, and the women of Greece in
their (not always heartfelt!) battle to deny their men sex in order to
stop a bloody war. As tensions mount and frustrations erupt, see who
wins and if peace is restored in this high octane, hugely enjoyable and
absurdist version of Aristophanes’ masterpiece.”
Aristophanes
is the one of the greatest ancient playwrights, and this is a unique
opportunity to see one of his most well-known plays brought to life by a
highly skilled theatre company.
The
performance starts 7.30pm
and finishes at 9pm. Tickets are £15 at full price and £12 for
concessions. Tickets can be booked through Actors of Dionysus at http://www.actorsofdionysus.com/tickets/lysistrata2016/lysistratatour
If you have any questions or would like to book tickets through the school, please let me or Mr Gimson know asap. Thank you!
