The Brexit Generation:
A debate on the UK’s future outside of the EU to be held on Tuesday 22 May,
1pm-3pm at Union Hall, Gipsy Lane Campus, Oxford Brookes University
This free event - as part of Think Human Festival at Oxford
Brookes University - is aimed at secondary school and sixth form students interested in history, geography, politics, public
speaking, business and current affairs but also more generally in their own
future in a UK outside the EU.
The format will be loosely based
on BBC's Question Time so that the students themselves set the agenda and ask
the questions - about Brexit and
the UK's future - that they want answers to. Students will have the opportunity to submit their questions up until a
week before the debate and from these a selection will be chosen.
The debate will be chaired by Dr
Stephen Hurt, Senior Lecturer in International Relations. Dr Hurt will be
joined by a panel of academics and policymakers who will give their answers to
these questions and debate with the audience. Confirmed panel members so
far are Professor Kalypso Nicolaïdis (University of Oxford), Dr Mikko
Kuisma (University of Tübingen, Germany), Sam Lowe (Centre for European
Reform) and Layla Moran (MP for Oxford West and Abingdon).
If you have any further
questions about the event please feel free to email Dr Stephen Hurt, shurt@brookes.ac.uk
