Talk: Toil and Trouble - Magic in Roman Britain, 9th June, 5 - 5.40pm

On Thursday 9th June, from 5 - 6pm, we are very pleased to welcome Adam Parker, Roman archaeologist and the Assistant Curator of Archaeology at the Yorkshire Museum, to deliver a community talk.

He will be speaking about the archaeology of magic in Roman Britain. His presentation will introduce how people protected themselves from bad luck, demons and the Evil Eye by using magical objects, lucky jewellery, spells, chants, and sexual imagery in the first to fourth centuries AD.

The talk is of particular interest to students of Classics, History and anyone with an interest in Archaeology, but all are very welcome. The talk will last for 30 minutes and be followed by drinks and questions.

To book, please speak to myself or Mr Gimson, or email info@irisproject.org.uk

The talk will take place in the Classics Centre (L14).
